{"id":1327,"date":"2014-08-12T12:30:14","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T12:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/my-brains.co.uk\/jackross\/?p=1327"},"modified":"2014-08-12T12:30:14","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T12:30:14","slug":"appetite-for-saving-grows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/my-brains.co.uk\/jackross\/appetite-for-saving-grows\/","title":{"rendered":"Appetite for saving grows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of people planning to save over the next 3 months increased from 16% in spring 2013 to 18% in spring 2014, according to National Savings &amp; Investments (NS&amp;I).<\/p>\n<p>The NS&amp;I&#8217;s quarterly savings survey revealed that the number of people unlikely to save fell from 22% in spring 2013 to 18% in spring 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Key findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brits save an average \u00a3105 per month<\/li>\n<li>13% have no savings at all<\/li>\n<li>56% had enough savings to cover an emergency in spring 2014, up from 52% in spring 2013<\/li>\n<li>20% have savings between \u00a310,000 and \u00a349,999.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Julian Hynd, retail director at NS&amp;I, said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are seeing more positive signs and a better outlook on the national saving picture since last spring, when saving levels were among the lowest in 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that more people say they have enough savings to cope with the unexpected is very good news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A separate study by consumer group Which? found that 40% of people who are aware of new ISA rules believe the changes will help them save more.<\/p>\n<p>The research revealed the reforms will encourage 54% of people to shop around for the best ISA deals.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also found that 55% of individuals with instant-access cash ISAs and 42% of people with notice cash ISAs had never searched for a better deal before.<\/p>\n<p><em>Contact us to discuss your savings.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of people planning to save over the next 3 months increased from 16% in spring 2013 to 18% in spring 2014, according to National Savings &amp; Investments (NS&amp;I).
