A team of intrepid Manchester accountants scaled new heights in two charity walks, raising more than \u00a31250 for The New Children\u2019s Hospital Appeal.Nine workers at Jack Ross Chartered Accountants took part in the sponsored walks, led by keen rambler and account senior Steve Turner.Fellow employees Paul Hammond, Michele Edwards, Pragna Mistry, Steve Smith, Lesley Ward and Mark Tomlinson, joined Steve for the first walk \u2013 a 10-mile ramble around the Macclesfield countryside, including the 1660ft summit Shutlingsloe.<\/p>\n

And for the second walk Wendy Ainsworth and Leon Smith joined Steve for a more intense eight-mile walk in the Derbyshire countryside, where they climbed Kinder Scout – one of the highest points in the area at 2000ft.<\/p>\n

Steve\u2019s wife Anne also took part in both walks and his son David in the second.<\/p>\n

Steve, who lives in Carrs Road, Cheadle, said: \u201cI am an addicted rambler, so for me the walks were the perfect way to raise money for the New Children\u2019s Hospital Appeal, but it was great to be joined by so many of my colleagues and we had two very enjoyable days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack Ross has signed up to the New Children\u2019s Hospital Appeal\u2019s Many Hands Campaign, where businesses raise \u00a31000 for the appeal over 12 months.<\/p>\n

And the walks have helped Jack Ross, which is also the Many Hands Campaign official sponsor, to smash the target.<\/p>\n

The management at Jack Ross decided to sponsor the Many Hands Campaign in honour of the firm\u2019s 60th anniversary this year and thought it was such a good idea that they also signed up.<\/p>\n

The aim of the Many Hands Campaign is to engage 250 businesses, especially SMEs, to each raise \u00a31000 for The New Children\u2019s Hospital Appeal over the course of a year \u2013 collectively raising \u00a3250,000.<\/p>\n

It is backed by Theo Paphitis of Dragons\u2019 Den and the money raised will go towards accommodation for parents whose children are being treated at the new hospital, which is due to open on Oxford Road, Manchester next year.<\/p>\n

The money will also fund specialist equipment for treatment and diagnosis at what will be the biggest children\u2019s hospital in the country.<\/p>\n
